Hogar (Home)

On September 2023, for the first time, I left the place where I lived during my whole life. I moved out from home, and also from Chile, my country.

An exceptional place in the middle of Santiago, the capital of Chile, where buildings cohabitate with nature in a seamlessly way. Offering its inhabitants and visitors a place to build community, a place to escape from the surrounding grayness.

Its construction began in 1957. It has seen the vast changes of the world reflected in its neighbors, losing some of them to taller,  selfish ones that didn’t want to share the view.

When I was a child, I could see the Plaza Italia from my window, 5 kilometers away.

It has survived so much:

many earthquakes,

including the strongest in modern times;

a 17-year dictatorship,

with all the anger and sadness of those times;

the pandemic,

keeping us safe and mentally healthy.

I decided to create  this series to say goodbye to it. Also as one of the many ways to share my home to all the people I will meet. To show them the love that I have for it, to illustrate a part of what makes me so happy about it, and to explain why I’m so excited to come back when the time comes.

Not only to show my love for it, but also to show my love for my friends, my families, with whom I  had the honor to be there. A way of saying that, just like this place, I will always love you and never forget you.
